Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival and Exploration of Mahabalipuram and Transfer to Pondicherry

Pickup from Chennai: Your journey commences with a pickup from the capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai. Relax in the comfortable vehicle and drive by the city.

Breakfast: Time to ‘break the fast’ with wholesome options. Have a quick yet healthy breakfast at a local food joint in Chennai as we head towards Mahabalipuram.

A quick tour of the city, Mahabalipuram: The antique town of Mahabalipuram welcomes you with its temples and sculptures. Time to visit the heritage sites:
Shore Temple
Five Rathas
Place where Arjuna did a hard penance
Krishna’s Butterball

Later drive to the quaint town of Pondicherry. It will take 1.5-2 hours.

Check-in at a homestay. Late evening, spend some quality time at a café or walk around the streets. Followed by dinner at a café/restaurant: It depends on your taste buds, if you want to grab a coffee at a French seaside café, then we suggest you a few places. If the South Indian spices entice you, then go ahead.

Stay at the comfortable homestay and be ready for the next day’s sightseeing.

Day 2: Full-Day Pondicherry Sightseeing
Post Breakfast, We leave for French Town Walk: A heritage walk around the French Quarter will freshen your spirits.

A visit to the Aurobindo Ashram: After a walk, let us get into a meditative or reflective state by spending some time in this spiritual realm.

Tamil Town Walk: The South Indian culture of Pondicherry should not be missed. Every traditional villa calls you and so, immerse in the vibrancy of this place.

Churches: A visit to a church of Pondicherry is a must-do if you love intricate art and sculpture. Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Église Notre-Dame des Anges are the popular ones.

Dine at a local café. Plenty of options are available.

Stay at the comfortable homestay.

Day 3: Departure to Auroville
Head towards Auroville: It’s time to bid goodbye to Pondicherry and head towards Auroville. It takes only 30 minutes by vehicle.
Check-in at Auroville: Check-in at the comfortable place in Auroville.
Time to explore: Matrimandir is the heart of Auroville and it should be visited first before you walk around the place.
Dinner time & overnight stay at the comfortable accommodation in Auroville.

Day 4: Full-Day Exploration of Auroville
Community Activities: We mentioned it is a community and hence, it is advisable to participate in an informative workshop or a community activity, according to your preference. Fitness enthusiasts can find a yoga class or those who want to learn more about the concept of sustainable living, enroll for workshops. Other places worth visiting are:
