Gaimukh Trek

Introduction
The Gaimukh Trek in Sanjay Gandhi National Park leads to a scenic vantage point, which is the second-highest peak (plateau) in the park. The name “Gaimukh” is derived from a natural rock formation that resembles a cow’s mouth, and the trek is famous for this unique landmark. Along the route, trekkers pass through lush forests, rocky terrains, and occasional streams, offering a mix of adventure and tranquillity. The trail also provides opportunities to spot wildlife, including birds and small mammals, making it an exciting journey for both adventure seekers and nature enthusiasts.
- Grade: Moderate (8 km round trip)
- Reporting time: 7:00 AM
- Age: For Adults and kids 7+
- Charges: INR 1200/- per person.
- Note: The minimum group size required is 15 participants.
- Inclusive – Entry charges, Entry charges to trek, Naturalist charges, Volunteer charges, transportation from gate to base and back.

Tentative Itinerary-
- 7:00 am: Meet-up at SGNP gate, Borivali (E).
- 7:15 am: Head toward Bamboo hut (base).
- 7:30 am: Begin with trail. Enjoy the surrounding flora and fauna and learn about it in the most
exciting way. - 10:00 am: Reach the Gaimukh plateau.
- 10:15 am: After the short break at the second highest point of Mumbai, descend back to the base.
- 11:00 am: Reach the base.
- 11:15 am: Head back to the main gate
Instructions:-
- Wear proper walking shoes.
- Carry an ample amount of water for yourself.
- Carrying snacks won’t be a bad idea (but don’t litter in the forest).
- Refrain from carrying costly items (except cameras) and jewellery for the trail.
- Wear full and camouflage clothes. Mosquitoes are a given, so carry insect repellent.
- Carry proper rainwear and rain covers for monsoon treks.
