Paradise Found: Tirthan Valley Bliss

As a girl who recently went on a 4 night 5 day tour of Tirthan Valley, I can safely say that this was one of the most beautiful and serene places I have ever visited. The valley is located in Himachal Pradesh and is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, lush green forests, and crystal-clear rivers. In this blog post, I will be sharing my experience of the tour, including information about food, weather, stay, and the places we visited.
During the journey from Chandigarh to Tirthan Valley in the month of May, a delightful experience awaits, with pleasant weather and beautiful landscapes along the way. A description of the journey and what can be expected during this time will be provided.

Day 1 – My tour drive from Chandigarh to Tirthan Valley
We landed at Chandigarh airport in early hours as the sun was just about to rise. We decide to have breakfast enroute. Our vehicle was waiting for us. The drive from Chandigarh to Tirthan Valley takes approximately 8 to 9 hours, covering a distance of around 265 kilometres. The vibrant cityscape of Chandigarh, with its well-planned roads and modern architecture, greets you as you depart. Gradually, the city is left behind, and scenic countryside views unfold.

In May, the weather in Chandigarh is typically warm and pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 25°C to 35°C. As the hills approach, the temperature begins to cool down, offering relief from the summer heat. It is advisable to carry light clothing, with a layer or two for cooler evenings in the mountains.

The route from Chandigarh to Tirthan Valley presents picturesque views, passing through charming towns and villages of Himachal Pradesh. Lush green fields, rolling hills, and winding roads that ascend towards the mountains create a scenic journey. Awe-inspiring vistas unfold, with the Shivalik Range in the backdrop and occasional glimpses of the snow-capped Himalayas.

Upon entering Kullu district, the Tirthan River flows alongside the road, enhancing the scenic beauty. The road winds through forests, crosses small bridges, and provides glimpses of the valley below. Attention should be given to apple orchards and traditional Himachali houses that dot the landscape.

As Tirthan Valley is reached, the serene ambiance and pristine natural beauty captivate. In May, the temperature in Tirthan Valley ranges from 15°C to 25°C, providing a pleasant climate for outdoor activities and exploration.

Whether opting for a cosy homestay, a riverside campsite, or a comfortable hotel, warm hospitality and a peaceful atmosphere can be expected. Tirthan Valley offers a range of accommodation options that blend harmoniously with the surroundings, allowing immersion in the tranquillity of nature.

In May, Tirthan Valley flourishes with vibrant wildflowers adorning the meadows and the lush greenery of the forests. Day 2
Jalori Pass-Shoja with Seolsar Lake is a captivating and picturesque destination located in the Tirthan Valley region of Himachal Pradesh, India. This enchanting combination offers stunning landscapes, serene walks, and a serene lake experience. Here’s some information about Jalori Pass, Shoja, and the mesmerizing Seolsar Lake:

Jalori Pass:
Jalori Pass is a high mountain pass situated at an elevation of approximately 10,800 feet (3,120 meters) above sea level. It serves as a gateway to the scenic Seraj Valley and is known for its breath-taking beauty and panoramic views. The journey to Jalori Pass from Tirthan Valley is a memorable experience. Let’s delve into the details of Village Sarchi and the Jamala Walk:

Village Sarchi:
Village Sarchi is a quaint and picturesque village nestled amidst the hills of Tirthan Valley. Day 4 Drive to Chaini Kothi and Jibhi

This tower, built without using any cement or mortar, stands tall as a testament to the architectural brilliance of the region.

As you ascend, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the valley, lush green forests, and snow-capped mountains in the distance. Jibhi:
After visiting Chaini Kothi village, you can continue your drive to Jibhi, another scenic village in the vicinity of Tirthan Valley. The village is surrounded by thick forests, apple orchards, and terraced fields, creating a serene and idyllic atmosphere.

As we drove through the winding roads to Jibhi, we’re treated to breath-taking views of the valley and the river flowing alongside. The lush greenery, blooming flowers, and the chirping of birds will accompany you on this enchanting journey.

In Jibhi, you can take leisurely walks along the riverbank, explore the village, and interact with the friendly locals. The village offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, allowing you to unwind and reconnect with nature. You may also come across charming wooden houses, small cafes serving local delicacies, and serene spots to relax and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.
We returned driving back after experiencing the beauty of Chaini Kothi village and Jibhi, thus completing the circular route. During the return journey, yet another opportunity is provided to appreciate the scenic landscapes, the majestic mountains, and the serene valleys that define this region. The memories made, the cultural discoveries, and the natural beauty encountered during the trip can be reflected upon. Day 5
Tirthan to Chandigarh with Mandi and Sundarnagar Lake Exploration
A day trip was embarked upon to the historic town of Mandi, situated on the banks of the Beas River. The rich heritage was explored, and visits were made to ancient temples such as Bhutnath Temple and Triloknath Temple. Strolls through the bustling marketplaces were enjoyed. Later, a visit to Sundarnagar Lake, a man-made reservoir surrounded by lush greenery and mountains, was undertaken. A serene lakeside picnic was relished, offering relaxation and the opportunity to capture cherished memories.
We moved fast as we had to reach Chandigarh airport for our late-night flight.

Things to Remember:
Weather : Tirthan Valley experiences pleasant weather during the summer months (April to June) with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 25°C. However, do carry warm clothing as evenings can get chilly. The monsoon season (July to September) brings rainfall, and winter (November to February) brings snowfall, transforming the valley into a winter wonderland.
Pack essentials: Comfortable walking shoes, warm clothing, sunscreen, a hat, insect repellent, and a camera to capture the mesmerizing landscapes.
Engage in responsible tourism: Respect the local culture and environment. Carry a reusable water bottle and avoid littering.
